Our foster dog, Maggie, was found pregnant and wandering on the reservation in Chinle, AZ. She was picked up by a volunteer working with Blackhat Humane Society, a rescue group specializing in ‘rez dogs’.
She was brought to us on April 10, 2020 and had her puppies on May 10, Mother’s Day. Maggie and her puppies have their own space in our house with a dog door to an outdoor kennel and an attached fenced yard on a 12 acre property where we all take adventure walks.
They will receive training and socialization to help them build a foundation towards becoming calm, stable, friendly pets. This includes Early Neurological Stimulation, regular body handling sessions, meeting safe people, dogs, cats and farm animals, encountering many different surfaces, sounds and sights, foundational potty training, bite inhibition and resource guarding prevention exercises and sitting for treats.
