I foster pregnant dogs and their litters for various non-profit rescues in my area. Below you can see pictures and read stories about them.
Interested in adopting? Valerie and her 8 puppies will be available for adoption Sept 21, 2024
Valerie was found hanging around a Burger King parking lot near Burnside Junction in AZ and was nicknamed 'Burger Queen'. When Cindy at
Blackhat Humane dropped her off on Saturday, July 20, 2024, she was very pregnant but so skinny, absolutely exhausted and shell shocked.
She got a bath and proceeded to sleep, what seemed like, forever. I was able to get her in to see the vet at Home Sweet Home on Monday and, amazingly, aside from being anemic, her tests came back with good news. By Tuesday, she had figured out how to use the dog door and has used it to go to the bathroom outside every single time. YES! In fact, she had pushed the ramp outside her dog door such that it wouldn't open. She woke us up in the middle of the night, crying b/c she had to go to the bathroom and refused to go inside.
So far, she is one of the most calm, cautious, sweet dogs I've met. I think she's pretty smart too so it will be really interesting to see her personality emerge over the next 2 months.
She was only with us for a week before she had her puppies on Saturday, July 27, 2024 between 1:30 and 7:30pm (so grateful for her timing) She is a sweet and devoted mom despite being worn out from the street.

Zoe came to us 5 days before she had her puppies. She was skin and bones with a busted leg. But she still had 9 healthy puppies!
Maggie was picked up near Narbona Pass, NM and she very slowly became huge with 10 puppies who were all born on Mother's Day
